About the Presenter: Dr. Jessica Queen is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases with a secondary appointment in Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She obtained her BS in Biochemistry at Simmons College, and her MD and PhD in microbiology/immunology at Northwestern University. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Weill Cornell Medical College and her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Johns Hopkins. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Queen’s goal is to combine her clinical and research skills to improve patient health as it pertains to infectious pathogens and commensal organisms in the gastrointestinal tract. Her research currently focuses on microbiome interactions with host genes and the host immune system in the context of colon cancer. In parallel to her efforts in the laboratory and in the hospital, Dr. Queen is passionate about mentoring students from backgrounds historically excluded from science and medicine.
