“Pain & Your Brain” is the theme of the 2016 Living Healthy with Arthritis Conference, hosted by the University of Arizona Arthritis Center on Saturday, Jan. 23, in DuVal Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
With UA Department of Neurology Chair David M. Labiner, MD, professor of medicine and pharmacy practice, as this year’s keynote speaker, the focus of the annual event will be on “understanding the role of the brain in central mechanisms of pain and inflammation.”
The conference, held in conjunction with the UA Division of Rheumatology, includes presenters and collaborators from throughout the UA Health Sciences' Tucson campus and Canyon Ranch Health Resort.

• A paper by Dr. Vina, UA Arthritis Center Director and Rheumatology Division Chief C. Kent Kwoh, MD, a professor of medicine and medical imaging, titled “Determinants of patient preferences for total knee replacement: African Americans and whites,” was published in the Dec. 3 issue of Arthritis Research and Therapy.
