Breanna L. Sherrow-Serrano, PhD

Dr. Breanna Sherrow-Serrano is director of Faculty Development and Teaching Excellence in the Department of Medicine. In her role through the Vice Chair of Education Office, she will design and implement faculty and resident trainee instructional development and support continuous quality improvement and innovation in teaching.

Dr. Sherrow-Serrano previously served as senior learning specialist for Graduate Medical Education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. She assisted in preparation for in-training exams and board exams, and supported trainees with demonstrated or self-identified academic difficulties. She also has served as a lecturer in the college's Department of Pediatrics and as an adjunct faculty member in Special Education at Pima Community College.

She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education (emphasis in Specific Learning Disabilities) and a master’s degree in Educational Psychology, with over 10 years of teaching and advising experience. She also has worked in Undergraduate Medical Education as a learning specialist where she advised medical students for their pre-clinical years, clerkship exams and board exams. Prior to that, she served as an assistant professor at New Mexico State University teaching reading and pre-service/in-service teachers in Special Education.
