William Cance, MD, deputy director of the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Phoenix and a renowned oncology surgeon and physician-scientist, has been appointed interim director of the UA Cancer Center, effective July 1, 2019.
The appointment was made by UA Senior Vice President for Health Sciences Michael D. Dake, MD.

Four local artists were chosen by Banner – University Medicine to paint murals to brighten the streets of Tucson that celebrate their artwork and health.
After a comprehensive national search, Ida M. “Ki” Moore, PhD, RN, FAAN, who has served as interim dean for the last 10 months at the University of Arizona College of Nursing, has been named dean of the college. Dr. Moore’s appointment begins July 1.
A new treatment that may extend survival for patients with advanced biliary tract cancers — who typically face a grim outlook with average survival of less than a year — is being studied by a University of Arizona Cancer Center researcher.
Biliary tract (liver, gallbladder and pancreas) cancers are a rare malignancy with only about 15,000 new cases in the United States each year, said Rachna Shroff, MD, section chief of gastrointestinal medical oncology and leader of the GI Disease-Oriented Team at the UA Cancer Center.
