Community Outreach

Within the Division of Cardiology and the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, we are passionate about training and educating clinical professionals and the public about the latest in cardiovascular disease and prevention research, guidelines and best practices for cardiovascular disease care, resuscitation techniques in the event of a cardiac arrest, and ways to promote a heart healthy lifestyle as a preventative measure to cardiovascular disease.

On the Sarver Heart Center website, you can find upcoming events, educational programs and support groups, along with videos, educational content and links to information that reinforces or builds on what you can find in our education programs.  Although there is a lot of medical misinformation on the internet, you will find accurate, helpful resources on our website.

Events

Our full calendar of events, training sessions (including chest-compression-only CPR, infant and pediatric CPR, and certification courses), Cardiovascular Grand Rounds schedule, stroke and other support groups, and lectures such as the Green Valley Lecture Series, is available online.

We have tips to prevent heart disease, dietary guidelines, and advice on how women are affected differently by heart disease than men. You’ll find information and patient education modules about advanced heart disease, heart failure, pacemakers and other implanted cardiac devices, as well as the total artificial heart, developed in conjunction with the University of Arizona. Stroke support groups are available in Green Valley. You can learn about minimally invasive surgeries that give high-risk cardiac patients lifesaving options, valve replacement surgical procedures.
