Dr. Roberta Diaz Brinton Among New Regents Professors Named at UArizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona Board of Regents today confirmed the appointments of University of Arizona faculty members Drs. Roberta Diaz Brinton, Judith Brown, Peter Chesson, Jeff Greenberg and Connie Woodhouse as Regents Professors.

The title of Regents Professor is reserved for full professors whose exceptional achievements merit national and international distinction. Regents Professor appointments are limited to no more than 3% of the total number of the university’s tenured and tenure-track faculty members.

UArizona Earns Strong Marks in Two International Rankings

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona has been recognized as one of the world’s top higher education institutions in a pair of prestigious global rankings.

UArizona placed No. 89 out of 20,000 global colleges and universities in the annual Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), released Monday. The university ranked No. 48 among U.S. institutions and No. 27 among public colleges and universities.

UArizona Climbs to 39th in Top 100 Universities Worldwide with U.S. Utility Patents

The University of Arizona ranks No. 39 among the top 100 worldwide universities with the most U.S. patents granted for inventions in 2019, according to a list (PDF) released by the National Academy of Inventors. This represents a 27-spot increase over the university’s previous year’s ranking.

UArizona ranks No. 34 among U.S. universities and No. 18 among public U.S. institutions.

UArizona Health Sciences Awarded $2.4M to Study Stress and Resilience in Vulnerable Latino Populations

TUCSON, Ariz. – Seeking to better understand the complexities of positive and negative influences on Latino health outcomes, researchers at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health have been awarded $2.4 million from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study stress-related chronic disease in underserved populations in conjunction with health advantages that exist in those communities.
