UArizona College of Medicine – Tucson to Celebrate ‘Virtual’ 2020 Convocation

TUCSON, Ariz. – On Thursday, May 14, a total of 117 students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson will officially become doctors.

The convocation ceremony, in which students will be recognized for earning Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees, will take place entirely online beginning at 4 p.m.; viewers may watch it at Facebook.com/UAZMedTucson.

Two UArizona Physicians among Authors on ASAIO Paper for Cardiopulmonary Life Support of Advanced COVID-19 Patients

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona Regents’ Professor Marvin Slepian, MD, and assistant professor Christian Bime, MD, are among multiple co-authors of a paper, “Advanced Pulmonary and Cardiac Support of COVID-19 Patients: Emerging Recommendations from ASAIO – A Living Working Document,” just published from the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs (ASAIO).

UArizona Researchers Pivot to Tackle COVID-19, Splitting More Than $500,000 in Funding

More than $500,000 has been awarded to teams of University of Arizona researchers to jump-start projects to fight COVID-19.

The university's BIO5 Institute, which connects hundreds of researchers in different disciplines to address complex challenges, was able to swiftly respond to the pandemic and release a round of seed funding via the Technology and Research Initiative Fund, which will enable researchers to positively impact the health of Arizonans and combat the global pandemic through their efforts.

Title: “Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Scleroderma - the New Standard of Care?”

Dr. Rashid is a second year Rheumatology Fellow in the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson.  He earned his bachelor's degree in Psychobiology at UCLA in 2008 and went on to complete a doctorate in osteopathic medicine at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine/Midwestern University in 2014.  He completed his internal medicine residency at Methodist Health Systems in Dallas, Texas, where he served as Chief Resident.
