Dr. Daniel Persky, associate professor in the UA Division of Hematology and Oncology, associate director of UACC Clinical Investigations and director of the UACC Clinical Trials Office, was instrumental helping raise $150,000 for the local chapter. Incoming University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson residents, chief residents and fellows joined each other Friday, June 23, for the Banner – UMC New Resident Orientation event hosted by the Marriott Tucson University Park Hotel. Across all departments, there are 711 resident physicians in training. Of those, the Internal Medicine program is the largest with 93 at Tucson Campus and 31 at South Campus. See the pictures…

Archita Desai, MD, a research associate with the University of Arizona Liver Research Institute, won a two-year, $150,000 grant from the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease Foundation to examine health-care utilization by advanced liver disease patients to better determine when care can be better managed for more optimal outcomes and potentially at lower costs over the long term.
