Feast Restaurant to Host Next Petersen Clinics 'Meet-Your-Pharmacist' Event, April 17

Image of flyer for this eventThe Petersen Clinics Pharmacy Group—aka T-Rx Group (or Team Rx)—is hosting a dinner and gathering at its next meet-your-pharmacist community event Thursday, April 17, 6:30 p.m., at the Feast Restaurant, 3719 E. Speedway, Blvd., Tucson.

The dinner is sponsored by Viiv Healthcare. Viiv is a pharmaceutical company specializing in  development of therapies for HIV infection that was created as a joint venture by Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline in November 2009 with both companies transferring their HIV assets to the new firm. In 2012, Shionogi joined the company.

These events offer patients, their friends and families direct access for medication questions about current, new and future treatments for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and AIDS as well as an opportunity to learn tips for medication success.

The Petersen HIV Clinics at the University of Arizona have been providing comprehensive care for HIV/AIDS patients in southern Arizona for more than 30 years. They are funded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)—a unit of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services—through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. With the support of the Ryan White Program, all eligible HIV-positive patients can receive primary care at reduced or no cost.

The UA Petersen Clinics, while operating at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson and South hospitals, are part of the UA Division of Infectious Diseases. The division is part of the UA Department of Medicine, the largest in the UA College of Medicine – Tucson. It also runs the Arizona AIDS Education & Training Center, which is funded by HRSA grants as well and is focused on providing health care professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to offer outstanding care to people living with HIV and AIDS.
