Several dozen University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and Banner – University Medicine faculty, clinicians and staff gathered Feb. 22 on the front lawn of the Banner – University Medical Center Tucson campus front lawn in celebration of the hospital’s best U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” rankings in a decade.
With a photographer using a flying drone camera, both photos and video were shot of attendees in front of new signage added this week to the front of the hospital. Banner Health plans on using the images for upcoming advertisements the company will use to promote the compassionate quality care provided by clinicians.
U.S. News this year rated Banner – UMC Tucson in its 2017-18 "Best Hospital" rankings as:
• Among the best hospitals in the nation for cancer, geriatrics, gynecology and pulmonary care;
• High performing in diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, nephrology and neurosurgery; and
• High performing in treatment of these adult procedures:
► Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),
► Colon Cancer Surgery,
► Heart bypass surgery,
► Heart failure, and
► Lung cancer surgery.
Banner – UMC Tucson, the top hospital in Tucson and Southern Arizona, also moved up this past year from the No. 3 to No 2 hospital in the state, tying with sister hospital Banner – UMC Phoenix (formerly Banner Good Samaritan).
