CanHEAL, a Complimentary Cancer Patient Resource, the Latest Innovation in Integrative Medicine at UA

Activities since the March announcement of a $15 million gift from center founding director Andrew T. Weil, MD, have accelerated with the center’s renaming after him:

A New Toolkit for Cancer Care Flyer for CanHEAL program at UA Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine

The University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine has developed an online integrative cancer care toolkit to help those recently diagnosed feel less overwhelmed, learn about approaches to support their treatment and overall wellbeing, and gain access to useful resources.

“This is a new online cancer resource we’re offing (for free!),” noted center marketing manager Keith LaBaw.

The pitch: Don't let a cancer diagnosis overwhelm you. It’s easy to feel isolated or as if nothing is under your control. Information, tips, and resources—along with support from loved ones and health care providers—can ease the treatment journey. AWCIM, with a generous contribution from the Scheidel Foundation, recently launched this FREE online cancer care toolkit. Among valuable information it includes:

  • Suggestions for working with oncology providers
  • Recommendations for complementary therapies and emotional wellness
  • Important nutrition and supplement information
  • Curated resources from trusted organizations

As well as features like:

  • Mind-Body Moments: The 4-7-8 breath and other simple relaxing and mindful practices to try
  • Search: Get right to what you are most curious about
  • Favorites: Return to the most helpful information easily
