Message from the Chief

Welcome to the Division of Nephrology and the Arizona Kidney and Vascular Center.

As the only fully fledged academic division of nephrology in the state of Arizona, our goal is to provide high quality clinical nephrology care to our patients, to develop innovative and topical research programs that will impact upon the care that we deliver to our patients and to be a teaching and training resource to our community.

We have a dedicated team of academic nephrologists that is focused on achieving these goals and thereby providing to our community the highest possible quality of kidney care.

In particular, our fellowship training program is both comprehensive and friendly, and our alumni have had extremely successful careers in Arizona and across the country.

A unique strength of our program is our close relationship with Banner Health, which is nationally recognized as one of the most innovative health care organizations in the country. This partnership has allowed us to play a leadership role in the rapid changes in health care that are ongoing today.

Last but not least, I am extremely proud of the recognition we have received as a center of excellence for nephrology. Our national rankings in 2015 (41st) and 2016 (39th) in U.S. News & World Report's "Best Hospitals" issue, and ongoing rating as high-performing in patient care at Banner University Medical Center - Tucson, in my mind, is a tribute to the hard work and team spirit exhibited by our faculty, fellows, staff and, very importantly, our community partners.
