First Pitch for Strike Out Cancer Night Goes to Dr. Rachna Shroff at Veterans Memorial Stadium

Teaser image for this story on Strike Out Cancer Night at Kino Baseball League.Rachna Shroff, MD, section chief for GI Medical Oncology at the University of Arizona Cancer Center and a physician in the UA Division of Hematology and Oncology at the UA Department of Medicine, threw out the opening pitch June 25 at “Strike Out Cancer Night” for the Sun Belt College Baseball League in Tucson.

The league, which is hosted by the Kino Baseball League, donated 50 percent of all general admission sales and conducted a 50-50 raffle with all proceeds benefitting the UA Cancer Center. See photos below...

Dr. Shroff tweeted on the occasion: “Nothing like a little #baseball to help #strikeoutcancer. Honored to represent @AZCancerCenter with our amazing team! Plus my little guy was in heaven...”

Games for the day included the BNL Rockets versus the Tucson Champs, Kings versus Team Tucson, and Aztecs versus the Rincon Knights. There are seven teams playing in the league at Kino Sports Complex and Veterans Memorial Stadium, which is adjacent to Banner – University Medical Center South, 2800 E. Ajo Way.
