New residents, fellows join DOM in July just in time for holiday

This includes resident physicians in the Internal Medicine Residency Program – Tucson Campus and the Advanced Dermatology Residency Program as well as those physicians new to our 18 fellowships – 15 of which are ACGME* accredited and another that’s ABOIM* accredited.

  • Muhammad Azhar, MBBS | Dr. Azhar earned his medical degree (MBBS) in 2003 from the Nishtar Medical University, Multan, Pakistan. Afterward, he did internal and general medicine residency (2005-7) and nephrology fellowship training (2007-10) at the Shaikh Zayed Federal Postgraduate Medical Institute, Lahore, Pakistan, where he then worked as a nephrology registrar at the Sharif Medical City Hospital. In 2012, he moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he served first as a nephrology registrar at the King Salman Centre for Kidney Diseases, then as an assistant consultant in interventional nephrology at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre. Since 2019, he has been a consultant nephrologist at the Northwest Armed Forces Hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Publications.
  • [Portrait of Muzammeel Hada, MBBS]Muzammeel D. Hada, MBBS | Dr. Hada earned his medical degree (MBBS) in 2014 and medical doctorate in 2018 from B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, India. His internal medicine residency training (2014-17) was completed there as well, after which he was a senior resident at Banas Medical College in Palanpur, India, where he also worked at the Shubh Jayanti Lion’s Hospital. Following a postgraduate rotation at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University, he worked at the Syeda Itrat Fatema Hospital & Diagnostic Centre, Sidhpur, India, as a consultant physician and department head (2018-20).   • Bulent Yilmaz, MD | Dr. Yilmaz earned his medical doctorate in 2000 from Ankara University School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey. His internal medicine residency training (2003-8) was completed at Dicle University, Diyarbakir, Turkey, and he did a gastroenterology fellowship (2010-13) at Hacettepe University School of Medicine, Ankara.   • Danial Gebreili, MD | Dr. Gebreili earned his medical doctorate in 2021 from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and did his emergency medicine residency training at the College of Medicine – Tucson (2021-24), where he served on the blood transfusion committee and was a diversity champion. During medical school, he was the founder and chair of the Unity Clinic, an interprofessional mobile clinic to serve Oklahoma City’s underserved and founded the local chapter of Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians, which focuses on expanding diversity within academic medicine.

  • Martha Gallegos, MD | Dr. Gallegos earned her medical doctorate in 2020 from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, from which she also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology. She completed her internal medicine residency training (2020-23) at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, where she also participated as a facilitator for human compassion in medicine, an investigator on research regarding infections in the immunocompromised and COVID-19 and served on the medical ICU task force. She also was a member of the winning Doctor’s Dilemma team that represented Kentucky at the American College of Physicians national Jeopardy-style competition. Publications.
  • Jothi Swathi, MBBS | Dr. Swathi earned her medical degree (MBBS) in 2019 from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai, India. She completed her internal medicine residency training (2021-24) at the College of Medicine – Tucson, and served as a research fellow for the Cleveland Clinic Akron General (2019-23). She’s a mentee in the American College of Physicians Arizona LEAD Internal Medicine Program. She also has volunteered as a physician for the Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation in Chennai.   • Jordan Torres, MD | Dr. Torres earned his medical doctorate in 2020 from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, from which he also holds a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. His internal medicine residency training (2021-24) was at HCA Healthcare/University of Houston, Kingwood, TX, where he was a chief resident. He helped the program create three separate Pathways to Distinction as a hospitalist, outpatient internist and subspecialist as well as four resident houses to act as wellness groups. Publications.
  • Cole W. Uhland, MD | Dr. Uhland earned his medical doctorate in 2020 from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Sint Maarten. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and did his internal medicine residency training (2020-23) at the College of Medicine – Tucson. Since then, he has been a NIH T32 Research Fellow at the Sarver Heart Center looking at methamphetamine associated pulmonary arterial hypertension. And he’s a volunteer for the Southern Arizona Golden Retriever Rescue Group.

  • Osahon Nekpen Idolor, MBBS | Dr. Idolor earned her medical degree (MBBS) at University of Benin School of Medicine, Benin City, Nigeria, in 2017. Her internal medicine residency training (2021-24) was at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, GA. In between, she served as a house officer (2017-18) at the Central Hospital, Benin City, Nigeria; medical officer (2018-19) at the Gamboru Primary Health Care Center, Maiduguri, Nigeria; and an extern (2019-20) at the Halifax Regional Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.   • Jessica Wong, MD | Dr. Wong earned her medical doctorate in 2021 at the Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in neurobiology, physiology and behavior from the University of California, Davis, in Davis, CA. She completed her internal medicine residency training (2021-24) at Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, where she was a participant in the Leadership in Quality Improvement Pathway, wellness committee chair and study coordinator and primary author on rheumatology research.
