Bashas’ and K-LOVE 88.1 kick off breast cancer awareness drive Oct. 1 to benefit University of Arizona Cancer Center breast cancer research

Throughout the month of October, nationally known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Bashas’ and K-LOVE 88.1 have joined forces to conduct a breast cancer awareness drive in the Bashas’ stores throughout Southern and Eastern Arizona to support breast cancer research at the University of Arizona Cancer Center.

“We are delighted to join forces with these great community companies in our mission to prevent and cure cancer,” said Anne Cress, PhD, interim director of the UA Cancer Center. “Our researchers are on the front line of the search for the causes and cures for breast cancer.”

Blood Cell Gene Expression can Predict Outcomes in Patients With Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), Study Finds

A new study shows that changes in the expression of genes in the blood can predict poor outcomes of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The study results suggest that these potential biomarkers should be evaluated further for prioritizing lung transplantation and for drug studies.

UA College of Medicine – Tucson Awarded Funds for Pilot Study of Older Adults and Fall Prevention

The Interdisciplinary Consortium on Advanced Motion Performance (iCAMP) and the Arizona Center on Aging at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson have been awarded a grant from the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation for an innovative pilot study on fall prevention involving residents living at Villa Hermosa Senior Living Center in Tucson.
